Metadata is contains the technical information required for integration between federation members in the federation. Members upload their IdP or SP metadata to the federation operator, and the federation operator then aggregates all member metadata into the federation's metadata. The federation metadata is then subsequently signed and published to guarantee the integrity and availability of the metadata.
