Technical Profile
As of March 8th 2023, all members of Skolfederation are required to adhere to the new SAML WebSSO Technical Profile. This means that the previous saml2int and eGov2 profiles no longer are normative for the federation. Discrepancies in the enforcement of the profile in Federationsadmin will occur in a period until Federationsadmin is adjusted.
The SAML WebSSO Technical Profile is part of Skolfederation policy. All Skolfederation members MUST adhere to the technical profile.

Summary and background
The SAML WebSSO Technical Profile defines additional requirements primarily regarding to IdP and SP metadata. Some requirements were undefined in the previous technical appendix, and was not enforced with technical controls in Federationsadmin. This lead to member metadata having unnecessary elements and errors. While these errors typically did not affect function, some parts of the metadata became guess work for the administrator. The SAML WebSSO Technical Profile aims to provide clarity in these matters.
This profile is based on SWAMID's technical profile (thank you SUNET!) which also provides better interoperability for interfederation.
